We are delighted to announce that the 3rd International Gibbon Husbandry, Health and Conservation Conference will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam from the 17th to the 18th of November 2022.

The 1^st International Gibbon Husbandry Conference took place at Greensboro Science Centre, North Carolina in June 2012. In 2015 Perth Zoo hosted the 2^nd International Gibbon Husbandry and Conservation Conference. The 2022 conference will have a strong focus on conservation, health management and all aspects of husbandry.

The main objective is to bring together leading experts on in-situ gibbon conservation, together with gibbon husbandry and veterinary specialists, with a focus to share learning and improve practices and to build alliances for more effective and better coordinated species conservation planning.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Delegates are invited to present information on their experiences working with gibbons in zoos and the field with a focus on conservation and research. Registration of abstracts and posters is now closed. Abstracts and posters will be reviewed, and it is anticipated authors will be notified of the outcome of their submission within a week.

Oral presentations should not exceed 15 minutes (5 extra minutes for Q&A session). The PowerPoint file for the presentation is preferably sent to the organizers by November 11. If the presenters cannot meet the deadline, a copy of the PowerPoint should be submitted on a USB drive upon arrival at the registration desk of the hotel, and we will return it on the same day. Please note that electronic copies of presentations will be made available to all delegates at the end of the event.

NEW TRANSPORTATION UPDATES

Symposium shuttle bus: Symposium shuttle buses will depart at 2 pm and 4 pm on the 16th of November, from the Central Circus (Google map link) in Hanoi city center and will bring you to the Pacific Hotel near the venue (Google map link).

How to get to the Central Circus from the airport?

Once arrived at the airport, you will have to take a taxi or the public bus to Hanoi city center, where a symposium shuttle bus will take you to the venue. Please find below the details:

Taxi: As you exit the airport, you can easily see a great number of taxis are already waiting to pick up guests in front of the terminal’s door. Some of the trustworthy brands are G7, NoiBai taxi, taxi Airport, taxi Group, Thanh Cong… (images on the left). The standard cost from the airport to Hanoi city center is 200K – 300K VND (equal to ~10 USD), and you should ask the driver for the price before entering the taxi. Besides, you can also book a Grab car from the airport to the meeting point using the Grab application.

Public bus: You can take the public bus number 86 or 86CT, which goes from the airport to the Hanoi Railway Station (850m from the Central Circus). The cost to take this bus is 45K VND (equal to ~2 USD). For more detailed information, please click here: Public Airport Bus Information

Transportation from Venue to Hanoi: We will arrange 2 shuttle buses that will depart on the 19th of November in the morning, one to Hanoi Central Circus and the other to Noi Bai International Airport, please register your preferred bus in the Flight Infomation form below. If you go to Hanoi city center, you can easily visit the city, or take a taxi/Grab car/the airport bus to the Airport at the most convenient time for you. The pick-up point for the airport bus is 1km from the Central Circus, in front of the Hanoi Railway Station.
