What we found
We recorded 41 fish species, 12 of them new records for the Red River basin. Diversity was fair to very good overall and highest around Tam Coc. Some findings are worrying: introduced species such as Mozambique tilapia, mosquitofish and armoured catfish are widespread. Some sites also showed poor water quality, with low oxygen levels linked to nearby farming and settlements.

These results give managers a baseline for monitoring the fish community and planning sustainable tourism.
